A note of explanation for all those who fail to understand this comic:
Would you say “Me weren’t (or wasn’t) anywhere near the school?” No. It would be “I wasn’t ….” (Not weren’t; that’s plural and “I” is singular, even if you suffer from multiple personality disorder.) Therefore it should be “Steve and I weren’t…”
The plural (that’s when there’s more than one) of allergy is allergies. Neither one allergy nor many allergies would cause an affect. However, they may affect you and cause an effect.
Whilst they may sound the same “their”, “there” and “they’re” have entirely different meanings. They’re not substitutes for each other, although there are many occasions when people display their ignorance of this simple fact.
Finally, for the avoidance of doubt: if you can’t substitute Atlantic for Pacific, you probably mean specific. Pacific specifically refers to a large body of water found off the west coast of America.
